As the weather begins to warm up, so does the soil. Warm soil temperatures bring Bermuda out of dormancy.
Scalp turf to 1.5" to 2" high to remove last year's growth. This allows sunlight to better penetrate the soil and further warm up the soil to promote new growth.
Apply a quick release nitrogen fertilizer. Something like a fertilizer bag labeled 46-0-0. Apply fertilizer in April when temperatures begin to warm up.
Results can be affected due to severity of the winter, late frosts, and time of application.
